L. ALLOW NAMED REPLACEMENTS FROM A LOWER GRADE (Reg 23.1.12 and Reg 4.7)

 WHAT'S THIS ABOUT

  • To allow a named replacement to transfer from, say, the Day 1 C game to the Day 2 B game without penalty,

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

  • To reform the regulation which disallows this.

DISCUSSION

  • There was a instance in a match played last season where an individual player was penalized for playing day 1 in a C grade match and day 2 in a B Grade match.
  • This was in breach of Playing Regulation 4.7 and 23.1.12
  • The B Grade team lost its points for the round.
  • This rule has lost favour with the way Subbies cricket is being played in the 2020's.
  • Reform of these rules will permit certain gaps in teams to be filled.
  • Removal of Reg 4.7 will not affect the intention of  the General Downgrade Steps Reg 4.6 to 4.6.4 (which is to describe a procedure for higher graded players to seek permission to play down a grade,)
  • Reg 23.1.12 is changed to make this reform explicit.
